1. Is it safe?

   All of our technicians in Maroubra are certified and experienced laser professionals. And the methods we use are safe

1. How many treatments will be needed?

   The response to treatment varies for each client but the number of treatments needed will generally be around 8-10. This can depend on the area treated and facial hair often requires 10-15 treatments in total. In order to maximise the chances of success, treatments are conducted 4-6 weeks apart and must be done consistently.

1. Why will I need so many treatments?

   Multiple treatments will be needed because not all hairs will be affected after each treatment. Hair growth occurs in multiple stages and the laser treatment is most effective when hair is in the Anagen (active growth) phase. Not all of the hairs will be in this phase at the time of treatment and hence multiple consistent treatments are needed for best effect.

1. Does it hurt?

   We use the Zimmer cooling device to ensure that the discomfort for each client is minimal. However, each client will react differently to the treatment. Most find the discomfort to be minor and compare it to the feel of a rubber band flicking the skin.

1. How do I prepare for my treatment?

   Before your treatment, it is recommended that you shave the area to be treated 2 nights before your treatment, as the laser works best on shorter hair. Remove all fake tan before treatment and exfoliate skin regularly to remove built-up dead skin. Hair must not be bleached, waxed or plucked from 4 weeks prior to treatment. Do not use any chemical peels or laser resurfacing, and let our specialists know if you've had any chemical treatment in the past. Do not use any moisturisers or topical creams prior to treatment and avoid excessive sun exposure or tanning this includes solariums or tanning medication.

1. What should I expect immediately after treatment?

   It is common for most patients to experience erythema, which is a redness like a minor sunburn, and edema, which is a slight swelling of the hair follicles, immediately after treatment. These symptoms will usually pass within a few hours after treatment but can persist for a few days in some cases. Cooling gels and aloe vera can be used to alleviate these symptoms if they persist. 1. Can I do laser hair removal over tattoos?

   No. The laser targets any kind of pigment and will remove tattoos. We will carefully work around any tattoos in the area to be treated.

1. Does it work on blonde/ grey hair?

   The light from the laser is best attracted to the dark pigment in hair and will only work on darker hair colours. Blonde and grey hairs will not respond to the treatment.
